That’s it – After two years without live events, Grampian Pride® is back to bring the local LGBT+ community and its allies together.
On Sunday 24th October, we will be taking over the streets of Aberdeen to celebrate our beautiful community and be proud.
Our Winter Parade will be slightly smaller than our usual events due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, we’re committed to offer a space where you will be able to remember our history and make your voice heard for a brighter future.
And now you’re wondering: What’s actually happening on the day?
Below is a breakdown with more information.
Join the parade from 11am to 12pm
Are your rainbows, glitter, and costumes ready? Not got yours yet click here for our shop
The parade will start at 11am from Holburn Junction (Albyn Place) and end at Marischal College around 12pm, with Granite City Roller Derby leading the parade.
We will be operating an arrival queuing system from 9am, meaning the earlier you arrive, the closer to the front of the parade you’ll be.
This year, we ask everyone to book their ticket(s) through Eventbrite in order to attend the parade. This will allow you to get your official Grampian Pride® wristband(s) by exchanging your tickets at Four Pillars from the 4th to 23rd of October, if you can’t make it in during the month, don’t worry, we will have a stall at Holburn Junction from 9-10:30 for you to exchange there.
Meet with local charities from 12 to 4pm
A number of local charities have joined forces with Grampian Pride®.
You will be able to engage with these organisations, get advice, information and of course freebies at Cheerz Club.
Don’t forget your wristband for this event, volunteers and staff will be looking for it.
Pop into Four Unity’s Vaccination Centre from 12 to 4pm
Four Unity (Four Pillars), on 33 Regent Quay, will be open as a community vaccination centre where you will be able to chat with the NHS Grampian team or receive your COVID-19 jab. Bookings won’t be required and participants will be served on a first-come-first-served basis.
Party at official Pride venues from 12pm
Feel like celebrating?
Other various venues across the city will also be running performances with local artists from 12pm onwards. You will spot them thanks to our “official Pride venue” posters. These businesses are giving back to the community and supporting Grampian Pride® events.
Keeping each other safe – a few words on COVID-19
Grampian Pride® is committed to ensuring we’re keeping all participants as safe as possible. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re taking proactive steps to limit the spread of COVID-19 as much as we can.
- As stated above, everyone wanting to join the parade will need a wristband. Wristbands are free and bookable through Eventbrite. This will help with Track & Trace.
- We are likewise asking all attendees to conduct a COVID-19 lateral flow test (LFT) 48 hours before the event and have their result ready to show a steward when entering the parade.
- We advise you to wear a face covering during the parade. This will be mandatory in partner venues and Four Unity.
We hope this outline gives a better idea of what our Winter Parade will be like.
And Psst… Have fun on the day! Costumes, music, flags, noisemakers, banners, balloons, and smiles are more than welcome! Not got yours yet click here to get them now.
We’re delighted to be able to offer an event that is so important to our community and its allies after such a long and challenging time. We have and continue to fight a huge battle in equality and human rights. So, stand tall, stand proud, be you.
