Backing for Pride as LGBT Charity Gains Major Funding Boost

A dedicated North East LGBT charity is celebrating after securing a grant from Big Lottery Fund Scotland for its work to bring Pride back to the region.
Aberdeen-based Four Pillars has been awarded £10,000 from the Awards for All Fund to support the new Grampian Pride being held in the city on May 26th. The charity provide support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the city and surrounding areas.
Four Pillars are founding partners in the new Grampian Pride event, alongside Grampian Regional Equality Council and Pink Saltire. The event is being led by volunteers from the local community and in conjunction with NELGBT+ Community Development Group.
This first LGBT+ Pride event for over 6 years is set to hit the city on 26th May and is shaping up to be an exciting day, with Hollyoaks actress, Annie Wallace, leading the parade along Union Street and singer/songwriter, Sandi Thom confirmed to headline on stage alongside other local and international artists.
The Pride team have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure everything comes together and that the city has an opportunity to celebrate diversity and demonstrate its values of being an open and welcoming place for everyone.
Commenting on the award, Four Pillars founder, Deejay Bullock said: “We are thrilled to have received this support. By securing funding, such as that from the National Lottery, we are able to ensure that participation in pride activities are free and open to all, including a free parade & free entertainment.”
